Still charging it. It feels good to challenge yourself, but I am getting older. One day I will not return.
I paddled out at Pipes and my gear started feeling real heavy as I am making my way out. If a wave stuffs you in the right way, you could sink. Really, I need to modify my dive bag to allow less drag in the water. Heading out, I was gassing again. One wave sunk me and my fin pouch filled full of water. Darn it! Now, I have to stop in the middle of the break zone, un-shoulder my bag, dump it out, then....Bam! Another set wave.
Luckily, the waves weren't that big.
I got to the outside and kicked back for a moment. Oh My God! The earth is so beautiful from out here. It is hard to remember a shoreline exists.
I caught about eight fish, maybe nine. I lost count. One bass, I got to tell you, it was legal size, so I decided to keep it; but then I decided to let it go. After an hour in the bag, it swam off in a sure and determined direction. I let it go so it could survive. At that moment, I watched and knew the tenacity of life. This is what we are like: Fish.
